Russia's RESO Garantia insurer confirms deal with Sarkozy
MOSCOW, Jan 15 (PRIME) -- Russian insurer RESO Garantia has confirmed a contract with former President of France Nicolas Sarkozy and said that it is surprised by the attention to the deal, a spokesperson told PRIME on Friday.
"We do not comment on the terms of the contract with Mr. Sarkozy. It is weird that this topic is of interest to anyone now, the contract has lasted for more than one and a half years, which means, this is no news," the official said.
Newswire France-Presse reported that the prosecutors of France had started preliminary investigation against the former president on accusation of lobbying interests of a Russian company. Mediapart reported that Sarkozy signed a deal with RESO Garantia, where France's Axa holds a stake. Axa is a large client of company Realyze, where Sarkozy was a co-founder.
